As rioting and protests erupted for a third straight day in Egypt on Thursday, social networking sites were abuzz with talk that Friday's rallies could be some of the biggest so far calling for the ouster of President Hosni Mubarak after 30 years in power. Millions will gather at mosques across the Cairo for Friday prayers – providing organizers with a huge number of people already out on the streets that they hope to tap into.

Here are some good resources on the Web to watch for developments:
Twitter:
Twitter has been blocked in Egypt, but news about demonstrations, arrests and police retaliation are still being circulated on the Twitter hashtags #Egypt and #jan25. The date Jan. 25 refers to when the violent mass protests started.
Al Jazeera’s staff has compiled tweets on the protests. YouTube
Protesters continue to upload video, like this one of a man standing in front of a water-cannon truck, dubbing it, “Egypt’s Tiananmen Square moment.”
This YouTube video shows protests at the Tahrir bus station in downtown Cairo on Wednesday.
Blogs, web sites
The English edition of the independent Egyptian newspaper Al-Masry Al-Youm has regular updates. They reported that the Muslim Brotherhood, the largest political opposition organization in Egypt, will join Friday’s demonstration.
The Guardian newspaper is live blogging the protests.
Global Voices, an international community of bloggers, translates local social media into English and has a page dedicated to Egypt Protests 2011.
Al Jazeera has extensive coverage of the protests.
The New York Times’ Lede blog has coverage of the protests – particularly video emerging on social media sites.
The Council on Foreign Relations has coverage of the foreign policy implications with one of the Middle East experts, Steven Cook, blogging from Cairo.
Foreign Policy also has an interesting analysis on the million-dollar question: “Will the Arab revolutions spread?”
The Economist also covers the current Middle East phenomenon that Egyptians have jokingly dubbed a “Tunisami” and the question of whether the wave of popular revolt on the Arab street will take down Egypt.

What is happening in the Middle East? As distasteful as despotic governments are for Americans, we have seen in Iraq that our style of democracy is neither workable or welcome in those countries. With anti-Americanism running high throughout the region, it's not looking good for an outcome that will make our sacrifices worthwhile.
It does not work well in any country, including the USA, where religious intolerance influences government.
So 80 million people should live under a despot so you can sleep easier? Thats the kind of arrogance that spreads anti Americanism.
I don't know. Iran had a democratic government before we overthrew it on behalf of BP and gave them a king. And look at all BP has done for us in return.
I cannot think of anything profound to say except that as I watch those who are demonstrating against the chasm between the majority who live in poverty vs. the minority who live in luxury, it is all so stinkingly sad.
What is happening in Egypt today is indicative of what the world has become; humanity under the rule of indifferent leaders, actually, despots, who's litany swirls around words such as democracy and freedom.
So as we bear witness to what occurred in Tunisia and to what is occurring in Egypt, Yemen, and Jordan today, the Beatles song, 'Revolution' rings true: "You say you want a revolution, Well you know, We'd all want to change the world, You tell me that it's evolution, Well you know, We'd all want to change the world, But when you talk about destruction, Don't you know that you can count me out, Don't you know it's gonna be alright...."

One man sacrificed himself out of despair, and has already succeeded in overthrowing the government of his country, and putting at least two more in jeopardy. For too long the US has protected stability at the cost of freedom for people in many parts of the world, most especially in the mideast. Now is the time for secular democrats, here and abroad, to throw off "royal families," "religious authorities" and other tyrants. It is only when people who believe in freedom and democracy step to the front of the line that true change happens.
Wouldn't it be great if just once the US stood firmly opposed to ALL religious governments and ALL others who claim to rule by natural or divine right? Freedom for Tunisia, Egypt, Yemen, Iran, Saudi Arabia. Freedom for Palestine.
I hope you won't mind if those free people choose to have a religious goverment, after all it is there choice. But you can sure bet that if the Suez Canal is threatened, the USA and the UN will step in and escalate riots into war.
sorry, their choice
It is imperative that all peoples be governed by a sytsem of their choosing, if that chosen form of government is religious in nature so be it, all governments should also be subject to re-affirmation through elections on a regular basis, one man, one vote is all very well, but one man, one vote one time is just a return to the type of authoritarianism that free & fair elections are supposed to prevent.
yep it will be messy but maybe it will kick our ass so that we do not have imperial troops in the area and we will drill here at home where the buffalo roam and the deer fear for theire lives
Before we put on our grannie glasses and sweet bands we must realize that sometimes its better the devil you know.
Its terrible that the situation there has gotten so out of hand. Hopefully the country is quickly reorganized and becomes more tolerant. the people deserve better

Egyptian Protestors Demand New Leadership
Anti-government rioting in Egypt continued Wednesday, the second straight day of protests despite a newly introduced ban on public demonstrations and organized marches.
@Red Chandler: It doesn't matter what you think, are you an egyptian? Let them decide if they want to choose a worse devil. So be it. Why do you want to dictate other people the kind of government they should have. It's not for you nor the U.S to decide that.
You're not proud enough over there to accept that being a covert security slave is a responsibility from birth?
"Cargo" containers will always have the ability to hide an invasion according to Holder and anyone that can disrupt the sources and methods involved in tracking these complex shipments in this highly uncertain and ever changing world will have wartime legal opinions applied to them to include neutralization of life for anyone does not submit to absolute control but in such a way that does not compromise the very sources and methods the neutralization is occurring for in the first place and during periods of time such stated opinions are in order (forever) opinions may be applied to ensure neutralization of any plausible and potential threat as enemy combatants and outisde Geneva convention restrictions. (Pretty close, right my paramilitary trash lawyers)
They should be pro what ever the @!$%# they want so long as it does not become my problem too because the difference between my covert democracy and a full blown dictatorship is they are not denied a complete knowledge (via the smallest little bit of diniability) of what it is they are so they can make what ever decision they need to for a better life. This would take a level of control that makes personal lives within the fabric and drama of a dictatorship more healthy and genuine than that of our now loony toon cartoon democracy.
Grandpa McCain just said "Please tell me I just didn't hear you say that"
That's why it's to bad Penetta could not activate their domestic version of the covert broadcasting system and it is a lot more sophisticated then this at home so quit trying to out broadcast me Obama.

When you are sloppier than a full flown dictatorship why not exploit our cherished rights, not just to the point were they are meaningless, but to the point they become the principal weapon to destroy any person or group you want, but within the social assumptions that don't leave any unclassified proof it was directly at the hands of the state.
It's easy to set up.
You need a good faith investigation (not just no reality, but accepting of criminal behavior) running along the bottom of the entire country.
Over the entire country, you have the most radical and classified legal opinions, and a military grade satellite that can force any and every one to become a state actor, that will be monitored for the rest of their lives, but with a pool big enough that not a single one of these state actors will be directly responsible for any crime and each one works off a no reality pretence that comes from the bottom of the country.
During our everywhere, forever, safety war, every citizen that can contribute to a paramilitary intelligence effort is expendable (in less than lethal ways because forcing death over a long time is better than a direct murder so we look free) and if they can not be controlled, their micro society helps them along the way.
In this covert paramilitary state, the society at large still thinks rule of law is real, because this fanatical war time power is forced to be concealed by the tin badge running along the bottom of my country, and every state actor is working off a no reality pretence so they don't go goofy. But concealing this power is what makes it so lethal against anyone the President needs to dispose of so we can win our asymmetric war.
But here is what a cartoon democracy looks like and it is far worse than many dictatorships at the individual level so we can look like we are not and your cartoons can hold their heads up high.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_dDSfa0FcA
But @!$%# warlord, lets forget about the core you childish @!$%#. I think Egypt has less unemployment and control than we do.
Their dictator says thank you for being more "productive" and they usually see the reality that it means they are working far longer, for far less, so he can make a lot more money.
But in this insecure nut house, where 1 out of every 100 became wealthy becawse of hawd wok, we say our freedom and former pride is so strong, that we will accept any courageous sacrifice.
But in a dictatorship the reality between courageous sacrifice and cowardly slaughter is much more apparent but they don't have Tom Brokaw.
But I guess it is why Sea Biscuit makes some people cry more than the funeral of an extended family member because every time I put money in a homeless vets jar I get goofy stares but if they need help the only person Michelle should shame is her bitch ass husband into increasing my taxes.
Because I was looking for the clip from "The American" where the pros sniper rile backfires (which is still much more professional than your garbage) but also wondered why a @!$%#in hooker has a more normal way of life than many US citizens and if you want to keep vets from blowing their head off maybe they need a message from this classy lady and not your wife because the thing that embarrasses me the most is seeing an American flag on his wheelchair on the corner of the street so neutralize this threat Michelle.
Penetta, our collective piece of human trash, see if you can find yourself.

Actually I thought for a demonstration the dissidents and police were fairly well behaved. It's almost as though they rehearsed it prior to the filming. I've seen some really nasty demonstrations years ago here in the States and also in Japan when I was stationed there. Because of the nature of the situation I'm sure we didn't see it all. Interesting. Need to follow this for a while to get a good handle on what it's all about. Egypt is one country that deserves a break. She, of all the Muslim nations takes on political problems through diplomacy rather than bombing everything in sight.
'free' the Egyptian people to the claws of the Brotherhood of Islam.
Hopefully the those who support Regimes such as current one in power in Egypt, Israel, Iran, Lebanon, Saudi Arabia, Iraq. Pakistan, China INC, US etc finally realise if the morality does not match the rhetoric then eventually the hypocrisy will become too much to bare and an even worse outcome can appear acceptable.
One has to realise there is no such thing as freedom only the relative independence nature and fellow humans allow.
Anyone claiming to ‘free’ anyone is only intending to change the chains.
So one has to examine very carefully what is this ‘free’ which seeks to smother a reasoned reflection of what a ‘free’ state is.
For who would question the right of people to be ‘free’ even given it is an illusion? Surely a fascist.
i am a child of the internet. for hosni mubarak to shut down the eyptian connectins is like cutting off my hand.If he or other tryants get away with that it could happen here in future. Children of the worldwideweb need to defend it from attackers, everyone that can hack should totally destroy egypts electronic infastructure and banked assets untill the internet is restored in egypt.
Hosni mubarak has declared war against the world by shutting down the egyptian branch of the net today.
Freedom is an illusion? And the idea that a government has ultimate power is an illusion too.
Obama and the U.S. State Department have supported Mubarak and have continued to financially back and praise his dictatorship form of government whereas George W. Bush had identified Mubarak as a Stalin type dictator that ruled his country and people without mercy. You have to remember that Obama recently made a special trip to Egypt and made a major speech honoring Mubarak and his government.
Nowadays, is not a secret that U.S. foreign policy is impartial since it tolerates most dictatorial governments working for U.S. and against their peoples. Our foreign policy has been a fallacy that has been hidden from Americans. Egypt, Cuba, Pakistan, Morocco, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and many others have been ruled by the same regimens for over 20 years and have been protected by our nation in order to obtain personal benefits from every Cabinet since President Reagan to current. Enough to cover up the reality and leave the other people live. Terrorist tales are nothing more than a reality created by our political system to get rich elitist personalities but on account of our taxes and soldiers.
This is a beginning of something really big hava look your self

Please help the Egyptians, this new development comes direct from Cairo and Alexandria residence...President Mubarak & his thugs are changing tactics…it appears that while the physically able Egyptians are out demonstrating, and when the police could not beat them off the streets, the police left the scene completely, some changed to plain closing, and along with their thugs, are now terrorizing & killing citizens, and looting homes & neighborhoods with sticks, knives and guns…this is serious as most of these homes are either empty or have elderly who are unable to defend themselves...in the foreground and on TV, Mubarak is keeping the worlds attention by appointing a VP, after 30 years without one… Please help the Egyptians!!!
Dear frinds,
My name is Jesús Moreno Guérin, I am a Production Manager and Executive Producer of cultural and audiovisual formats and creator of the project presented below.
The purpose of this letter is to present to you our Nefertary Cultural Project ©, a major cultural and social project that revolves around the figure of Queen Nefertari, Royal Wife of the Great Ramesses II, Pharaoh of the nineteenth dynasty of Ancient Egypt.
The project encompasses all the expressions of Contemporary Art and is developed across all the Cultural and Social Operators: Internet, Museums, Television, Cultural Centres, Foundations, Theatres, Cinemas, Concert halls ... together with public and private institutions at national and internal level that develop artistic, social or cultural themes around Ancient Egypt.
Nefertary Cultural Project ©, is part of an extensive and innovative programme of cultural, artistic and social activities. This programme consists of:
Cultural work: the first major international and travelling Exhibition about the figure of Nefertari, recounting her life in its social and political environment with the latest and most modern visual techniques: The NEFERTARI EXPERIENCE. And with a grand attraction, unique until now: the exact scale REPLICA of the Tomb of Nefertari.
Audiovisual Works: consisting of a TV Movie of 3 chapters, parallel to the museum design of the Exhibition and 3 academic and innovative Historical Documentaries, created from the TV Movie.
Social work: consisting of a complementary series of social and artistic EVENTS before and after the inauguration of the Great Exhibition
Two important teams of professionals, supported by national and international organizations, have created Nefertary Cultural Project ©.
Nefer Production Team: A team of professionals in the audiovisual and cultural sector, creators and producers of major cultural works and fiction series, exhibitions, etc.
Scientific Team: made up of eminent national and international Egyptologists, archaeologists, historians, professors, doctors ..., who lend credibility to the whole archaeological project. They will supervise every artistic detail of both the Audiovisual Works and the Exhibition, creating an authentic atmosphere that reveals just what everyday life in ancient Egypt must have been like.
Furthermore, Nefertary Cultural Project ©, is a project that has no boundaries. Its cultural value is international and therefore all aspects of the project spring directly from the relationships between the Scientific Team of the production and the International Organizations which collaborate with Production Nefer ©.
Both the exhibition and the audiovisual work will travel around major world cities (Turin, New York, Paris, Los Angeles, London, Tokyo, Boston...), attracting millions of visitors.
Our reason for presenting this cultural project to you is that we want you to become a part of it, of its organizations or scientific team, either directly. or simply with your institutional support.
This is an ambitious project with huge potential in communications and marketing, so it will reach millions of people around the world.
